Gujarat to see another spell of rain, strong winds likely for next 3 days

Gujarat is likely to receive another spell of rain over the next few days, with the weather department forecasting light to moderate showers across several parts of the state.

The latest spell of rain between September 12 and 14 brought 2 to 6 inches of rainfall to several districts, including parts of Central Gujarat, Saurashtra-Kutch and Ahmedabad. After a brief break, another round of rain is expected to begin from September 17.

Rain likely in Ahmedabad, Central Gujarat and Saurashtra

According to the weather forecast, many districts of Central Gujarat, North Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch, including Ahmedabad, may receive light to moderate rain over the next two to three days. The state is expected to see rainfall activity for around a week from September 17.

Strong winds are also likely, particularly in coastal areas, where wind speeds could reach up to 40 kmph.

There was no significant rainfall recorded across the state on Wednesday. The highest rainfall was recorded in Kadwal taluka of Chhota Udepur.

Gujarat still 16% short of seasonal rain

Despite the recent rainfall, Gujarat is still facing a 16% rainfall deficit. The shortage is particularly high in Kutch, where it is more than 40%, while North Gujarat has a deficit of over 35%. Saurashtra is also facing a rainfall deficit of around 35%.

The upcoming spell could bring more rain to these regions, but it remains to be seen whether the rainfall deficit will be fully covered.
