An eighth-standard student of Sharda Vidyamandir in Ahmedabad’s Bhuyangdev area suffered a deep cut on his hand while leaving the school premises on August 31, requiring 15 stitches. The incident has raised questions over the school’s handling of the matter and the availability of CCTV footage.
The injured student reached his school van with heavy bleeding. The driver provided basic first aid before taking him home. His family, after noticing the seriousness of the wound, rushed him to a hospital, where he received 15 stitches.
School Cites Technical GlitchThe student’s parents later approached the school administration seeking CCTV footage to find out how the injury occurred. They were initially asked to visit the school on Monday.
However, the school later reportedly claimed that a technical glitch had prevented CCTV cameras from recording during the relevant period, even though the surveillance system was functioning at other times that day. The explanation has raised concerns among the parents.
DEO Seeks Report and FootageThe school principal has also faced criticism for allegedly failing to inform the school management or the District Education Officer (DEO) about the incident for six days.Taking note of the matter, the DEO directed the school to submit a detailed report and provide all available CCTV footage.
Officials are now examining the circumstances surrounding the injury and whether the student was hurt accidentally or allegedly assaulted
