Several important changes are set to take effect across the country from September 1, 2026, affecting household expenses, vehicle purchases, milk prices and airport travel.

1. LPG e-KYC deadline ends on August 31
Consumers are required to complete e-KYC for their LPG connections by August 31 to continue receiving regular cooking gas supplies and applicable subsidies. Oil marketing companies had earlier extended the deadline from August 23 to August 31. Those who fail to complete the process may face difficulties in receiving LPG cylinders from September 1.LPG cylinder prices are also reviewed by oil marketing companies at the beginning of every month, so revised rates are expected to be announced on September 1.
2. Tata, Hyundai cars to become costlier
Car buyers may have to pay more from September 1 as Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles is set to increase prices across its car and SUV range by up to ₹25,000.Hyundai Motor India is also expected to implement another price hike, making September a potentially costlier month for those planning to purchase a new car.
3. Milk prices in Mumbai rise to ₹102 per litre
Mumbai residents will face higher milk prices from September 1. The price of farm or stable milk is set to rise by ₹9 per litre, from ₹93 to ₹102.Milk traders have attributed the increase to rising costs of purchasing cattle as well as higher prices of animal feed and fodder.
4. Airport immigration process to become easier
International air travellers will get some relief from September 1, with the immigration process being simplified. Passengers will reportedly no longer need to get their boarding passes physically stamped at immigration counters.Instead, they can present an electronic boarding pass on their mobile phone or a printed copy, helping reduce waiting time at airports.
5. Monthly LPG and ATF price revisions
Oil marketing companies revise the prices of LPG cylinders and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) on the first day of every month.
