Around 190 degree engineering seats remain vacant in government and grant-in-aid colleges across Gujarat even after the offline admission round held on August 25. The Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) has now announced another round to fill the remaining seats.
Students can register for the fresh round from August 27 to 31, while the admission and seat allotment process will be conducted on September 3.
In a key change, students without a rank, including those who did not appear for GUJCET, will also be eligible to apply for the vacant seats.
A large number of the remaining vacancies are in core engineering branches such as Civil, Chemical, Computer, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. Colleges in Palanpur, Godhra, Dahod and Bhuj have reported several vacant seats. Vacancies are also available in Textile Engineering at MS University.
948 Admissions Allotted in Offline Round
At the end of the regular admission process for degree engineering courses in government and grant-in-aid colleges, around 600 seats were still vacant. Following an extension granted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), ACPC conducted an offline admission round on August 25.
As many as 3,872 students had given their consent to participate in the offline process and were called to the ACPC office according to allotted time slots. Of these, around 3,200 students attended.
The offline round resulted in 948 seat allotments. These included 515 fresh admissions, while 433 students changed their allotted colleges to institutions higher on their preference list.
Despite the exercise, around 190 seats remain vacant, mainly in government and grant-in-aid colleges in Palanpur, Godhra, Dahod and Bhuj.
Students interested in the remaining seats can register between August 27 and 31. ACPC will conduct the next admission and seat allotment process on September 3.
