Western Railway’s Ahmedabad division will begin construction of a new railway bridge in the Chandlodiya area on the Sabarmati–Sarkhej railway route. The work has been awarded to Khodal Corporation.
The new bridge will be built alongside Railway Bridge No. 5 as part of the project to lay a second railway line on the Sabarmati–Sarkhej route.
During construction, the road passing under the existing Railway Bridge No. 5 will be closed to all vehicles for around four months. The work will continue round the clock.
Traffic diversion
Vehicles will be diverted through Railway Bridge No. 4, located next to Bridge No. 5.
Vehicles travelling from Chandlodiya towards New Ranip, Chenpur, Sabarmati and Chandkheda can use Bridge No. 4 to reach their destinations. Vehicles coming from these areas towards Chandlodiya will also have to use the same bridge.
The traffic diversion will remain in effect throughout the construction period.
