A police constable posted outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai died after collapsing during his duty, a senior police official said.
The 41-year-old constable, identified as Ganesh, was part of the state security detail assigned to the actor. He reportedly complained of feeling unwell before collapsing at the security post.
Colleagues immediately took him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police said a heart attack was the suspected cause of death.
The constable’s death comes amid heightened security arrangements at Khan’s residence following threats allegedly issued by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and members of his gang.
Security around the actor was stepped up after a firing incident outside his Galaxy Apartments residence in Bandra in April 2024. Two motorcycle-borne men allegedly opened fire outside the building, following which investigators examined possible links to the Bishnoi gang.
Khan has also previously spoken about the impact of the heightened security surrounding him. He has said that while moving with a large security team can be inconvenient, he does not live in fear and leaves his fate to God. The police are proceeding with the necessary formalities in connection with the constable’s death.
