To protect public health and stop the use of fake or duplicate dairy products, the Gujarat government has imposed a complete ban on the production, sale, transport and use of unstandardised dairy analogue products across the state. The prohibition order was issued by the Commissioner of Food Safety on August 5.Following the ban, the Food Safety Branch of the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation launched a special inspection drive on August 6. Teams of food safety officers are conducting surprise checks at restaurants, hotels and food manufacturing units across the city.During the inspections, officials are verifying that kitchens are not using paneer analogues, cheese analogues or any other artificial dairy substitutes in food preparation.
The government has directed all Food Business Operators (FBOs) to strictly avoid the use of banned dairy analogue products. Authorities said the inspection campaign will continue in the coming days, and anyone found manufacturing, storing, selling or using these products will face strict legal action under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
