Sabarmati Police raided an illegal hookah bar operating under the guise of a cafe on SP Ring Road in Ahmedabad and detained the cafe operator along with several customers. During the raid, police found that hookah was being served using nicotine-based flavours while being falsely claimed as herbal products.
The operator, identified as Vineet Rathod, was taken into custody, and further legal action has been initiated.
Raid Conducted After Tip-Off During Night Patrol
The action was carried out after Sabarmati Police received specific information during night patrolling about an illegal hookah bar running inside the ‘VinViks’ Cafe on SP Ring Road. Acting on the tip-off, the police raided the premises and caught the operator allegedly serving hookah to customers.
Hookahs, Flavoured Tobacco Worth ₹37,600 Seized
During the search, police seized two hookahs, nine boxes of flavoured tobacco, silver foil, chillums, coal, pipes, and other materials used to operate the hookah bar. The total value of the seized items is estimated at ₹37,600.
A case has been registered, and Sabarmati Police have initiated legal proceedings against the cafe operator and the customers found at the spot.
