Gujarat witnessed an intense spell of monsoon rain over the last 24 hours ending at 6 am, with central and south Gujarat receiving extremely heavy rainfall. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), Mehmedabad taluka in Kheda district recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 19.96 inches (507 mm).
The torrential rain disrupted normal life in several districts, including Kheda, Ahmedabad, Navsari, Valsad and Surat. Most of the heavy rainfall occurred between noon and 8 pm, leading to widespread waterlogging, overflowing rivers and traffic disruptions.

Heavy Rain Across Several Districts
Apart from the top 10 talukas, heavy rainfall was also reported in Dangs, Tapi, Anand, Bharuch and parts of Saurashtra. Vaghai in Dangs received 14.45 inches of rain, while Dholka and Viramgam in Ahmedabad district were among the worst-affected areas.
Although rainfall eased during the early morning hours, authorities remain on alert as waterlogging, swollen rivers and flood-like conditions continue to affect several parts of the state.
