Ahmedabad faced significant disruptions on July 23, 2026, as three underpasses were closed to traffic due to waterlogging after a night of moderate to heavy rainfall. The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) confirmed that the underpasses at Makarba, Akhbarnagar, Parimal, Shahibaug, and Mithakhali are currently shut.
As of 11 am, some local areas received more than two inches of rain early this morning. Officials indicated that these underpasses will reopen once the rains subside and dewatering efforts are completed. Waterlogged conditions have made travel hazardous in several parts of the city.
In addition to traffic issues caused by flooding, reports emerged of trees being uprooted across various neighborhoods due to the stormy weather. Residents are urged to exercise caution while commuting.
The impact of this rainfall isn’t limited to just Ahmedabad. Nearby regions like Navsari have already issued flood alerts as river levels rise toward danger marks.
Meanwhile, AMC has alerted citizens about potential disruptions in water supply across certain parts of the city as maintenance crews respond to challenges posed by heightened rainfall.
