The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall across the country from July 23 to 28, issuing heavy to extremely heavy rain alerts for 27 states as the southwest monsoon remains active.
Delhi and the NCR have received relief from intense heat, with cloudy skies and light to moderate showers expected. Temperatures are likely to range between 24°C and 33°C.
In Uttar Pradesh, heavy rain is expected across eastern districts until July 26, with very heavy rainfall forecast between July 26 and 28. Western Uttar Pradesh is also likely to receive heavy showers on July 27 and 28.
Bihar is set to witness widespread rainfall on July 23 and 24. After a brief lull around July 26, another spell of heavy rain is likely on July 27 and 28.
In Himachal Pradesh, continuous rainfall has increased the risk of landslides and flash floods.The IMD has issued an orange alert for Kangra and Mandi, while Shimla, Kullu, Chamba and Solan remain under a yellow alert.
Madhya Pradesh is expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 24 to 48 hours, particularly in Bhopal, Jabalpur, Narmadapuram, Sagar and Rewa.
In Rajasthan, heavy rainfall is likely across Jaipur, Kota, Bharatpur, Udaipur and Jodhpur divisions until July 26, with isolated locations expected to receive extremely heavy showers.
The IMD has also forecast active monsoon conditions in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and northeastern states including Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, with thunderstorms and widespread rainfall expected over the coming days.
