Supporters of activist Sonam Wangchuk and individuals protesting the alleged NEET paper leak staged a demonstration near Happy Street in Ahmedabad’s Law Garden area on Sunday, demanding action from the Centre and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Holding placards and banners, protesters raised slogans against the government and called for accountability over the alleged examination irregularities. The demonstration drew a significant police presence as authorities moved to prevent the gathering from escalating.
Senior officers, including officials of the ACP and DCP ranks, supervised security arrangements while police personnel dispersed the crowd and detained several protesters. Visuals from the scene showed women among those taken into custody.
Some protesters alleged that police used force during the operation, though there was no immediate official statement on the claim. Security was tightened across the Law Garden area to maintain law and order following the protest.
Meanwhile, organisers have announced another demonstration outside M. J. Library at 6 pm. They said permission for the gathering has been sought from the Ellisbridge Police Station, but a decision from the police was awaited at the time of reporting.
