In a significant crackdown on unsafe food products, Ahmedabad’s Food Safety Department seized 75,000 packets of a product called ‘Bachcho Ka Pasta’, which was found to contain prohibited oil soluble dye.
This operation took place in the Amraiwadi area, where officials shut down the Aman Sales Agency, run by Mahendra Shivpujan Gupta. The agency was found selling these hazardous pasta packets that posed serious health risks.
Earlier this month, inspectors collected samples from various snack packets at local shops in Bapunagar. Tests confirmed that the pasta contained harmful substances typically used in plastics and paints. Such ingredients can lead to severe health issues like liver infections if consumed.
“This changes everything,” said a representative from the food department. They noted that not only was the pasta dangerous, but they also sent seven other snack samples for further testing.

The total value of the seized items is estimated to be around ₹4.25 lakhs, weighing approximately 1,500 kilograms. Further investigations revealed that these snacks were produced by Dhariwala Foods located in Siddhpur.
