Ahmedabad’s Kalupur Railway Station has become the sixth-largest railway station in India in terms of the number of platforms.
The station has 12 platforms and handles more than 300 trains every day, making it one of the country’s busiest rail hubs.Howrah Junction tops the list with 23 platforms, followed by Sealdah (21), Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (18), MGR Chennai Central (17) and New Delhi Railway Station (16).
Ahmedabad Kalupur shares the sixth position with Kharagpur Junction, both having 12 platforms.Kalupur serves as a key railway hub, connecting Ahmedabad with North Gujarat, Saurashtra, Kutch, Rajasthan, Mumbai, Delhi and South India through several major trains.Meanwhile, redevelopment of the station and the multimodal transport hub project is progressing rapidly.
Once completed, the upgraded station will offer passengers a more modern, spacious and convenient travel experience.
