The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s health department has reported 96 cases of diarrhoea and vomiting, 60 cases of typhoid, nine cases of jaundice, and two cases of malaria in the city during the first five days of July.As part of its disease surveillance, the department tested 9,029 water samples for chlorine levels.
Two samples were found to have no chlorine. It also collected 1,370 water samples for bacteriological testing, of which four were declared unfit.
According to civic health data, Ahmedabad has reported 3,230 cases of diarrhoea and vomiting, 994 cases of typhoid, 373 cases of jaundice, 159 cases of dengue, 117 cases of malaria, 14 cases of falciparum malaria, and two cases of chikungunya so far this year.
