The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh seven-day weather forecast for Gujarat, warning of widespread rainfall across the state, with heavy to extremely heavy showers expected over the next few days.A Red Alert has been sounded for six districts in South Gujarat and Saurashtra, where extremely heavy rainfall could trigger flash floods, waterlogging and disruptions to normal life.
The IMD has cautioned that low-lying areas and coastal regions remain vulnerable to flooding, while strong winds, thunderstorms and lightning are also likely during the active monsoon spell. From July 8 onwards, rainfall intensity is expected to ease gradually. However, heavy to very heavy rain is still forecast in several districts, while light to moderate showers accompanied by thunderstorms are likely in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Anand, Banaskantha and Mehsana.
According to the IMD, the intensity of rainfall is expected to decline across Gujarat between July 8 and July 11, although scattered showers are likely to continue in many parts of the state. Residents have been advised to stay alert, particularly in flood-prone and low-lying areas, and follow official weather advisories.
