The demolition of Ahmedabad’s Subhash Bridge achieved another milestone on Saturday with the successful dismantling of the Shahibaug-side span, civic authorities said.
Officials stated that the span was brought down in a carefully planned operation under the supervision of technical experts and the appointed contractor, with all prescribed safety protocols strictly followed throughout the process.
The demolition was closely monitored at every stage to ensure compliance with engineering and safety standards. Authorities confirmed that the span was dismantled without any untoward incident.
Site secured during demolition
As a precaution, the entire demolition site was barricaded and declared a restricted zone. Public entry to the bridge and surrounding areas was prohibited during the operation to ensure safety and allow the work to proceed in a controlled manner.
Following the successful demolition, debris removal began immediately. Officials said the clearance work will be carried out in phases before the next stage of the bridge demolition proceeds according to the planned schedule.
