The Bodakdev police have registered a case against three persons for allegedly assaulting two men with wooden paddles and later vandalising a restaurant in Ahmedabad, causing damage estimated at around Rs 1 lakh.
According to the FIR, the incident took place around 11.30 pm on July 2 near a Kia showroom on Rajpath-Rangoli Road. The complainant, Kesharsingh Ranjitsingh Sisodia (32), manager of the Wok on Fire restaurant and a native of Dungarpur in Rajasthan, was sitting on his motorcycle outside his residence when three men arrived in a black SUV.
Police have identified two of the accused as Minesh Shankarnath Jogi (21), a resident of Bodakdev, and Deepak alias Deo Babubhai Parmar of Gota. The third accused, identified only as Ronak, is yet to be identified.
Investigators said the accused allegedly mistook Sisodia for being associated with two men who had fled the area moments earlier. Deepak allegedly assaulted Sisodia with a wooden paddle, injuring his left hand and near his left eyebrow, while Ronak also attempted to attack him. Sisodia managed to escape from the spot. Soon afterwards, Surendrasinh Shivsinh Chauhan, who arrived on a motorcycle, was allegedly assaulted by the same group after they mistakenly believed he was accompanying Sisodia. Chauhan also sustained injuries before the accused fled.
The victims informed the police through the emergency helpline and were shifted to Sola Civil Hospital for treatment.
Later, when Sisodia and Chauhan reached the Wok on Fire restaurant, manager Shaifal Ahmed Mansuri told them that the same three men had entered the premises shortly after midnight and vandalised the establishment. The accused allegedly damaged furniture and other property, resulting in losses estimated at nearly Rs 1 lakh.
Based on Sisodia’s complaint, the Bodakdev police have booked the three accused under relevant sections for voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, criminal trespass, mischief causing damage to property and using abusive language. Further investigation is underway.
