A fire rescue vehicle of the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services got stuck after a road suddenly caved in at the busy Paldi crossroads on Friday.
The vehicle was passing through the junction when a portion of the road gave way beneath it, leaving it stranded in the middle of the intersection.
Fire personnel and civic officials first tried to pull the vehicle out using available equipment, but were unsuccessful. A crane was later brought to the spot, which lifted and removed the stranded vehicle after a rescue operation that lasted for some time.
The incident caused temporary traffic congestion at the busy crossroads, with commuters facing delays until the vehicle was removed and traffic returned to normal.
No one was injured in the incident, and officials said the rescue vehicle did not suffer any major damage.
The road cave-in has once again raised concerns about the condition of Ahmedabad’s roads after the recent monsoon rains, as several parts of the city have reported potholes and damaged road surfaces.
