In a daring late-night burglary, thieves allegedly broke into a jewellery shop in Surat’s Pandesara area by cutting through the roof and escaped with gold and silver ornaments worth over ₹30 lakh.
The incident took place at Krishna Jewellers in Gita Nagar, where the burglars reportedly removed roof tiles to gain entry without alerting nearby residents. They then accessed the shop’s safe and fled with valuables in what police suspect was a carefully planned operation.
The theft came to light the following morning, triggering panic among local traders. Senior officers from Pandesara Police rushed to the spot, registered a case, and launched an investigation. Police are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the culprits.
The shop owner revealed that an attempted burglary at the same shop had taken place around six months ago, but the suspects had fled without succeeding. This time, however, the thieves appeared to have executed their plan with precision.
The incident has also raised concerns over law and order in the area. Local residents and traders claim that seven to eight major thefts have been reported in Pandesara and nearby localities over the past seven months, prompting demands for stronger policing and enhanced security measures.
