A high-speed collision between a Mercedes and a Kia SUV at Yog Circle in Ahmedabad early on Saturday left several people injured and nearly turned fatal after one of the vehicles rammed into a roadside puncture repair shop.
According to preliminary reports, the Mercedes was travelling from Karnavati Club Road towards Yog Circle, while the Kia, driven by a woman, was approaching from the Shela side.
The luxury car was allegedly speeding when it collided with the SUV at the junction.The impact of the crash was severe, sending the Kia crashing into a nearby puncture repair shop. The Mercedes sustained extensive front-end damage, with its bonnet completely crumpled, while all airbags in the Kia deployed upon impact.Family members travelling in the Mercedes suffered minor injuries, and the woman driving the Kia also sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Two youths sitting outside the puncture shop had a narrow escape as the Kia came to a halt just a few metres away from them, preventing a major tragedy.Police rushed to the spot soon after the accident and launched an investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that overspeeding by the Mercedes may have been a contributing factor. Further action will be taken after the probe is completed.
