Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) has intensified its citywide fire safety enforcement drive, inspecting hotels, educational institutions and coaching centres to ensure compliance with mandatory fire safety norms.
As part of the special drive, the department issued notices to 216 establishments, comprising 154 hotels and 62 educational institutions and coaching centres. Authorities also sealed 13 hotels and one coaching institute after detecting serious fire safety violations.
The West Zone recorded the highest number of violations. Notices were served to 47 hotels and 12 educational/coaching institutions, while seven hotels and one coaching institute were sealed. The sealed establishments include Hotel Pacific Empire, Hotel RK Regency, Hotel Green Fortune, Hotel Nilkanth, Hotel Sun Star Inn, Hotel Deluxe, Kahani Restaurant, and Navkar Institute.
In the North West Zone, notices were issued to 24 hotels and five educational institutions/coaching centres, while six hotels—Hotel Fiza, Hotel Char Food, Hotel Fountain, Apollo Hotel, Hotel Grand Inn and Hotel Lake Palace—were sealed for major fire safety violations.
The Central Zone witnessed notices being issued to 27 hotels and eight educational institutions/coaching centres, while the South West Zone recorded notices to 20 hotels.
In the South Zone, notices were served to 13 hotels and three educational/coaching institutions.
The East Zone saw notices being issued to 16 hotels and 24 educational institutions/coaching centres, while the North Zone recorded notices to seven hotels and 10 educational institutions/coaching centres.
Among the prominent hotels and commercial establishments issued notices during the drive were Hotel Pacific Empire, Hotel RK Regency, Hotel Green Fortune, Hotel Sun City, Hotel Orchid Inn, Hotel Crystal, Hotel Sun Plaza, Hotel Dream Land, Hotel Lotus Villa, Hotel Karnavati, Hotel Krishna, Hotel Alice, Pride Plaza, Page One Hotel, Hotel Prestige, Hotel Park Villa, Hotel Capital New, Hotel Stay Inn, Hotel Mukam, Hotel Serena, Hotel City Plaza, Hotel Relax, Hotel Aman Guest House, Hotel Angel Plaza, Hotel Sarvottam, Hotel Nexus One, Third Wave Coffee, Dakshin Bhojanam and Cava Café, among several others.
Educational institutions and coaching centres that received notices include Navkar Institute, Aakash Education (Thaltej), AP Kapadia School, Anand Niketan School, Akshar Academy, Chanakya Academy, DSC Public School, Shree Padmavati Vidhya Mandir, Patel Study Centre, Best Computer Classes, Glory English School, Vision Classes, Harsh Classes, Promise Academy, Lavingia Academy, Gaurav Group Tuition, Archana High School, Namrata Mam’s Learning Academy, Silver Bell Primary School, Shivalik Primary and Secondary School, G Tech Computer Education, Future Path Education, NCVT Private Limited Training Centre, Khushi Computer Education and Disha Computer Institute, among others.
According to AFES, the inspection drive is aimed at ensuring that hotels, restaurants, schools, coaching centres and other public establishments comply with prescribed fire safety standards. The department said similar inspections will continue across Ahmedabad, and strict action will be taken against establishments found violating fire safety regulations to safeguard public life and property.
