To enhance road safety during the monsoon season and provide motorists with advance warnings about diversions and hazardous stretches, the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has introduced traffic marshal mannequins at key locations across the city.
Under the initiative, the mannequins will be stationed at roadwork zones, diversion points, and accident-prone areas to alert and guide commuters through temporary traffic changes and ongoing infrastructure projects. The move aims to help motorists navigate safely and reduce confusion caused by sudden route diversions.
In the first phase, AMC has installed four traffic marshal mannequins at roadwork sites in the Panchvati and Panjrapol areas. Equipped with warning boards and diversion signs, the mannequins are designed to provide advance information about traffic changes, facilitating smoother vehicular movement and improving traffic management.
The civic body said the initiative is intended not only to streamline traffic flow but also to reduce the likelihood of accidents during the rainy season. By offering timely warnings and clear guidance, the mannequins are expected to encourage motorists to exercise greater caution while travelling through work zones and potentially hazardous road stretches.
