The Fee Regulation Committee (FRC) has issued a show-cause notice to Prakash Higher Secondary School in Bodakdev after receiving complaints that the institution is allegedly charging fees higher than those approved for the 2026-27 academic year. The school has been asked to appear before the committee on June 25 and submit its explanation along with supporting documents.
The action follows complaints from parents seeking admission for their children, who alleged that the school was collecting fees beyond the amount sanctioned by the FRC.
Taking serious note of the allegations, the FRC’s Ahmedabad Zone chairman issued a notice to the school’s principal and trustees, asking why legal action should not be initiated for violating fee regulations.
The committee has directed the school management to present its defence at the FRC office and provide all relevant records, including fee receipts and details of fees collected from students across all standards during the current academic year.
Despite the state government’s efforts to regulate private school fees through the FRC, complaints of excessive fee collection continue to emerge from some institutions.
The notice has sparked discussion within Ahmedabad’s education sector, with attention now focused on the school’s response and the committee’s next course of action.
