Gujarat University has released a list of 80 affiliated colleges that have been approved to offer four-year honours degree programmes from the upcoming academic session.
The approved colleges are located across Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Kalol, Dehgam, Mansa, Sanand, Bhoyni, Vavol, Anasan and Silvassa. They will offer honours courses in Arts, Commerce, Science, Business Administration and Computer Applications under the new academic framework.
According to the university, the list includes 51 self-financed institutions (SFI), 24 grant-in-aid (GIA) colleges, four government colleges and one government self-financed college.
Course-wise, 15 colleges have been permitted to offer Bachelor of Arts (BA) honours programmes, while one college will offer BA in Journalism and Mass Communication. A total of 31 colleges will offer Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) honours courses, 12 colleges will offer Bachelor of Science (BSc) programmes, eight will offer Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and 13 colleges will offer Bachelor of Science in Computer Applications.
The move is aimed at expanding access to four-year undergraduate honours programmes in line with the provisions of the National Education Policy (NEP) and providing students with greater academic and career opportunities.
