Six students from Surat secured places in the All India Top 50 ranks in the Chartered Accountancy (CA) Final examination results declared on Thursday, while no candidate from Ahmedabad featured in the prestigious AIR Top 50 list.
Ahmedabad recorded a pass percentage of 13.70 per cent among candidates who appeared for both groups, slightly below the national pass percentage of 14.07 per cent.
At the national level, the May 2026 examination saw a notable improvement in results, with the overall pass percentage rising by nearly four percentage points compared to the January 2026 session. A total of 7,931 candidates qualified as Chartered Accountants through the examination.
Surat Students Shine
Akshat Beriwal emerged as Surat’s top performer by securing All India Rank (AIR) 10. Raj Shah followed with AIR 30, while other students from the city who featured in the national Top 50 included Akshat Goyal (AIR 41), Kritika Singhal (AIR 45), Bhoomika Bansal (AIR 49) and Aman Shiv Agrawal (AIR 49).
A total of 644 candidates from Surat appeared for both groups of the CA Final examination.
Rishabh Dakaliya, associated with CA education in Surat, said six students from his institute secured national ranks, while one online student achieved AIR 8. He noted that despite the Advanced Financial Management paper being considered particularly challenging, students delivered exceptional performances.
Beriwal attributed his success to disciplined preparation and inspiration from his elder sister, who had previously secured AIR 1 in the CA examination. He said careful planning helped him effectively balance office work and studies.
Ahmedabad Topper Misses AIR by Seven Marks
Hamza Pulavwala emerged as Ahmedabad’s topper but narrowly missed securing an All India Rank.
“I am satisfied with my result, but I missed an AIR by just seven marks. A few more marks would have earned me a place in the national rankings,” he said.
Pulavwala said he plans to gain professional experience through employment before making long-term career decisions.
In Ahmedabad, 851 candidates appeared for Group I, of whom 51 passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 5.99 per cent. In Group II, 96 out of 472 candidates cleared the examination, registering a pass percentage of 20.34 per cent.
For both groups combined, 664 candidates appeared and 91 qualified, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 13.70 per cent.
Compared to the January 2026 examination, Ahmedabad’s performance declined marginally from 13.86 per cent to 13.70 per cent. In contrast, the national pass percentage for both groups increased from 10.97 per cent in January 2026 to 14.07 per cent in May 2026.
National Performance
Across the country, 54,606 candidates appeared for Group I, with 6,555 clearing the examination, resulting in a pass percentage of 12 per cent.
For Group II, 42,573 candidates appeared and 8,725 qualified, recording a pass percentage of 20.49 per cent.
A total of 23,776 students appeared for both groups, of whom 3,345 successfully cleared the examination, taking the overall pass percentage to 14.07 per cent.
Vadodara Achievers
In Vadodara, Mohammad Aman Mohammad Salim Rangrez, the son of a school van driver, secured the fourth position in the city with 329 marks. Aman credited his father for ensuring that financial challenges never affected his education and said he now hopes to support his family and provide a comfortable life for his parents.
Lakshman Khadaka topped Vadodara in his first attempt, scoring 350 out of 400 marks. He attributed his success to hard work and staying away from social media during his preparation.
Jiya Shah and Kirtan Prajapati jointly secured second place in the city with 345 marks each, while Devang Karnik finished third with 330 marks.
