In a major step towards improving urban infrastructure and easing traffic congestion, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) carried out a large-scale anti-encroachment drive in the Saijpur Tower area. Acting under the provisions of the Town Planning (TP) Scheme, civic authorities removed 75 illegal encroachments and reclaimed nearly 15,000 square feet of public land.
The clearance drive has facilitated the development of a 100-foot-wide road, a key infrastructure project aimed at improving traffic movement and connectivity in the area. Officials said the widened road will help reduce chronic traffic bottlenecks and ensure smoother vehicular flow for daily commuters.
The reclaimed space is also expected to support the expansion and strengthening of the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) corridor, enhancing the efficiency of public transport services in the locality.
The latest action is part of AMC’s broader efforts to address traffic-related challenges across the city. Earlier, on May 22, the civic body intensified its anti-encroachment campaign in Ahmedabad’s North Zone by removing road encroachments at multiple locations to improve traffic flow and facilitate smoother movement of public transport vehicles.
