The Weights and Measures Department has levied fines amounting to ₹40,000 on three commercial establishments operating at Ahmedabad airport for alleged violations of provisions under the Packaged Commodities Act, according to a media report.
The action was initiated following a complaint regarding non-compliance with legal metrology norms at retail outlets located in the airport’s domestic and international terminals.
During an inspection of shops at Terminal 2, officials reportedly detected violations of prescribed packaging and labelling regulations at three stores.
Information obtained through a Right to Information (RTI) application revealed that penalties were imposed on three businesses. Rishi Enterprise was fined ₹5,000, Yashchi Enterprise ₹10,000, and Cococart Venture ₹25,000.
Officials said the action was taken as part of efforts to ensure compliance with consumer protection and legal metrology regulations governing the sale of packaged commodities.
