THE National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET)-UG re-examination is scheduled to be held on June 21, with authorities implementing unprecedented security measures in the wake of the paper leak controversy that rocked the medical entrance exam earlier this year.
Experts involved in setting, moderating, reviewing and translating the question paper have been placed under strict isolation until the re-exam is conducted. According to reports, they have been shifted to a highly secure undisclosed location where all communication with the outside world has been restricted.
Officials said paper setters, moderators, translators and other personnel associated with the examination process are being housed at a secure facility under constant supervision. The use of mobile phones, laptops, smartwatches and other electronic devices has been prohibited, while internet access and external communication have been severely curtailed. Entry and exit to the facility are being closely monitored, with access restricted to authorised personnel only.
The stringent measures follow the NEET-UG paper leak controversy that led to the cancellation of the earlier examination and triggered widespread concern among more than 22 lakh aspirants. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has reportedly directed officials to plug all security loopholes identified during the previous examination cycle and ensure a transparent and tamper-proof re-test.
Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has rejected claims circulating on social media regarding an alleged leak or sale of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination paper, describing them as baseless and fraudulent.
The agency said it has strengthened security protocols governing the preparation, storage and transportation of question papers through a multi-layered encrypted system. According to the NTA, advanced digital tracking mechanisms, secure logistics and zero-trust verification procedures have been deployed at every stage, making any organised leak virtually impossible. Law enforcement agencies and cybercrime units are also tracking online accounts responsible for spreading false claims related to the examination.
