In a bid to improve accessibility and speed up the resolution of pending passport applications, the Regional Passport Office (RPO), Ahmedabad, has announced a dedicated weekly walk-in facility for applicants from June 15, 2026.
Under the new system, applicants with pending passport applications can visit the Regional Passport Office without a prior appointment every Wednesday, excluding public holidays, between 10 am and 1 pm. The facility will allow applicants to make enquiries regarding their applications and submit any pending documents required for processing.
According to the RPO, the initiative has been launched in view of the sufficient availability of online appointment slots and to encourage greater use of the online appointment system while ensuring quicker disposal of pending requests and representations.
The office will continue to provide 100 online appointment slots on all working days for applicants who prefer to seek information or submit documents through a scheduled visit. Appointments can be booked online at a date and time convenient to the applicant.
Apart from visiting the office, applicants can also obtain updates on their passport applications through the RPO helpline (079-26300603), email ([email protected]), and its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, @rpoahmedabad.
Officials have advised applicants visiting the passport office for enquiries or document submission to carry all original supporting documents to facilitate prompt processing.
