A man was allegedly hacked to death in broad daylight near Gulbarg Society in Ahmedabad’s Meghaninagar area on Tuesday, sending shockwaves through the locality.
According to preliminary police investigations, the deceased has been identified as Haresh Patni. He was reportedly sitting outside a residential society when a group of unidentified assailants arrived and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons.
The attackers allegedly inflicted multiple injuries on Patni before fleeing the scene. He sustained critical wounds and died as a result of the assault, police said.
The incident triggered panic among local residents, with a large crowd gathering near the crime scene after news of the murder spread. Traffic movement in the area was temporarily disrupted as onlookers assembled on the adjoining road.
Family members of the victim rushed to the spot and were seen mourning his death. The brazen nature of the attack in a public place left residents stunned and concerned.
Following the incident, senior police officials and local police teams reached the scene and initiated an investigation. A forensic team was also deployed to collect evidence and examine the crime scene.
Police are probing various angles, including personal rivalry and past disputes, as possible motives behind the murder. CCTV footage from nearby locations is being scrutinised to identify and trace the accused.
