The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Monday conducted a demolition drive in the Isanpur area, removing several allegedly unauthorised commercial structures as part of its ongoing anti-encroachment campaign.
The operation was carried out along the road stretch from Mukesh Patel Hospital to Pramukh Apartment towards Vishalnagar, where civic authorities deployed JCB machines and demolition teams to clear structures said to be in violation of municipal regulations.
According to preliminary information, around 22 commercial properties were targeted during the drive. The action was undertaken to remove alleged encroachments and unauthorised constructions that had come up along the corridor.
The demolition exercise began in the morning under heavy police security to maintain law and order and ensure the smooth execution of the operation.
Visuals from the site showed earthmovers demolishing portions of shops and commercial establishments as civic teams proceeded with the clearance work.
AMC officials said the drive was part of a broader effort to reclaim public spaces and enforce municipal norms. However, a detailed statement regarding the extent of the encroachments, the total area cleared, and whether notices had been issued to property owners before the action is yet to be released.
