Several parts of Gujarat experienced pre-monsoon showers accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds on Saturday, a day after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted rain and thunderstorm activity across multiple regions of the state.
Rainfall was recorded in parts of Aravalli and Mahisagar districts, including Modasa, Malpur, Bhiloda, Shamlaji, Lunawada, Khanpur, Santrampur and Kadana. Dark clouds, lightning and strong winds marked the sudden change in weather, providing respite from the heat and bringing down temperatures in many areas.
According to the IMD, isolated heavy rainfall is likely in Aravalli, Dahod and Mahisagar districts on May 31. Several districts in North, Central and South Gujarat are also expected to witness light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph.
The weather department has forecast a gradual fall of 3°C to 5°C in maximum temperatures across Gujarat over the next week, offering much-needed relief from the prevailing summer conditions.
