The Gujarat government has revised the public holiday for Bakri Eid for state government offices, boards, corporations, panchayats, and banks, shifting the holiday from May 27 to May 28, 2026.
According to a notification issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), the Bakri Eid holiday was originally scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, as per the official 2026 holiday calendar. However, the state government has now rescheduled the public holiday to Thursday, May 28.
Following the revision, all state government offices, boards, corporations, panchayats, and banks across Gujarat will remain operational on Wednesday, May 27.
Officials stated that the annual public holiday list for 2026 had earlier been notified on November 27, 2025, and the latest change has been incorporated accordingly through a revised notification issued by the department.
