A 23-year-old gas delivery worker has filed a police complaint after nine domestic LPG cylinders worth over ₹8,000 were allegedly stolen from his rickshaw in Ahmedabad’s Nikol area by an unidentified man who tricked him late at night.
According to Nikol police, the incident took place on the night of May 18 near Atal Apartment in Nikol.
The complainant, Bharatbhai Parmar, a resident of Odhav, works with a gas agency near Kathwada and delivers cylinders using a loading rickshaw registered in a relative’s name.
In his complaint, Parmar said that around 11.30 pm, while repairing a puncture in his rickshaw near Sitaram Chowk in Krishnanagar, an unknown man approached him claiming he urgently needed a gas cylinder for cooking and promised to return it the next day.
Believing him, Parmar allowed the man to travel with him in the rickshaw. Around midnight, they reached Atal Apartment in Nikol and parked the vehicle near Block No. 13.
The accused then allegedly asked Parmar to come with him to the seventh floor of the building, saying the flat was locked and he would bring the keys from downstairs. After waiting for nearly 15 to 20 minutes, Parmar returned to the rickshaw and found that nine Bharat Gas cylinders had disappeared.
Police said each cylinder was worth ₹920, taking the total loss to around ₹8,280.
Parmar later submitted the original purchase bills of the cylinders and filed a complaint seeking action against the unidentified accused.
Nikol police have registered a theft case and started an investigation.
