The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has issued Orange and Yellow heat alerts for Ahmedabad till May 28 under its Heat Action Plan, warning residents about continued extreme temperatures in the city.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature is expected to remain around 43°C on May 21 and May 22, while minimum temperatures may stay close to 28°C. Heat conditions are likely to worsen on May 23, with the temperature expected to touch 44°C.
AMC has issued Orange alerts for the first three days, as heatwave conditions are considered “most likely” to “very likely” during this period.
From May 24 to May 27, temperatures are expected to stay between 42°C and 43°C. A Yellow alert has been issued for these days, indicating that hot weather conditions will continue, though the intensity may reduce slightly.
The IMD has also warned that heatwave conditions are likely to persist through the week.
Citizens, especially children, senior citizens and people working outdoors, have been advised to avoid direct sunlight for long periods and take necessary precautions to stay safe during the heat.
