Budget airline SpiceJet is set to suspend several important Gujarat routes, including flights between Ahmedabad and Mumbai as well as Ahmedabad and Delhi, while operations on the Kandla–Mumbai sector have already been discontinued.
According to updated schedules, the airline has removed multiple Ahmedabad–Mumbai flights and one Ahmedabad–Delhi service from its booking platform. The changes are expected to come into effect between late May and early June, affecting passenger connectivity from Gujarat and reducing available seats on these routes.
Flight SG 194 from Ahmedabad to Delhi, which departs daily at 6:05 am, will stop operating from May 26. Several Ahmedabad–Mumbai flights, including SG 878, SG 690, SG 695 and SG 1077, have either already been suspended or will be phased out soon. Bookings for these flights are no longer available on the airline’s website.
The airline has also withdrawn flight SG 2906 on the Kandla–Mumbai route, which earlier operated five days a week.
The route suspensions come amid ongoing financial difficulties faced by SpiceJet, including cash flow problems, a shrinking fleet and legal disputes involving aircraft lessors and former promoters.
Reports suggest the airline is awaiting financial assistance under the Centre’s Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS). If the reported ₹1,500 crore funding support is received, some of the suspended services could be restored in the future.
Passengers with advance bookings, including group and holiday reservations, are expected to receive full refunds for cancelled flights.
In recent months, SpiceJet had already reduced operations from Ahmedabad by suspending services to Dubai and Sharjah, which are now expected to resume only in August.
