Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said Gujarat should now aim to become one of the country’s top three states in the service sector after establishing strong leadership in manufacturing, engineering and green energy.
Speaking at the inauguration of a tech park in Ahmedabad, Shah said Gujarat had already made significant progress in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, ports, logistics, industrial infrastructure and investments.
He added that the next phase of development should focus on technology-driven and high-skill industries.“If Ahmedabad wants to stand alongside major technology hubs like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and Gurugram, then modern infrastructure projects are necessary,” Shah said.He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisions Gujarat as a centre for technology, innovation, entrepreneurship and knowledge-based industries, which would create employment opportunities and help the state lead in emerging technologies.
Shah expressed confidence that Gujarat would achieve similar success in the IT sector, just as it had done in other industries whenever the state entered a sector with determination.“Entrepreneurship is deeply rooted in the DNA of Gujaratis,” Shah said, adding that this spirit had grown stronger due to supportive government policies and infrastructure development.
He said the concept of “infrastructure” under the leadership of then chief minister Narendra Modi went beyond physical development and also included progressive policies, financial support systems, a business-friendly environment and initiatives like Vibrant Gujarat.“These combined efforts have taken Gujarat’s industrial growth to new heights and earned global recognition,” Shah said.
He further added that the Prime Minister has placed major emphasis in recent years on the development of tech parks and Global Capability Centres, leading to wider transformation across various economic sectors.
