The Gujarat government is set to roll out 300 new buses starting May 16. This move comes with a notable twist: there won’t be any grand inauguration or ceremonial ribbon-cutting.
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi made the announcement, emphasizing that these buses will directly enter public service. “We want to benefit citizens immediately,” he said. The focus, he noted, is on public welfare rather than unnecessary formalities.
Sanghavi pointed out that by skipping traditional VIP events, the government aims to save both time and taxpayer money. “The funds that would have gone towards such ceremonies will instead be used for the people,” he explained.
This decision reflects Chief Minister’s commitment to a ‘Zero Ceremony’ approach. The initiative seeks to minimize wasteful expenditure while ensuring that services are delivered promptly. In doing so, officials hope to promote fuel efficiency and address environmental concerns alongside enhancing public transport.
