Adani Total Gas Ltd. has once again increased the price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in Ahmedabad by Rs 2.25 per kg. Following the latest revision, the retail price of CNG in the city has risen to Rs 86.02 per kg. The fresh hike comes amid rising fuel and essential commodity prices, adding further pressure on consumers.
Although the company had offered temporary relief by reducing CNG prices by Rs 1.21 on January 1, 2026, rates have since been increased three times this year. Prices were raised by Rs 0.50 on February 7, Rs 1.50 on April 2, and now by Rs 2.25 on May 16.
According to the price trend, CNG rates have seen multiple revisions over the past few years. Hikes were recorded several times between 2023 and 2025, including increases of Rs 1.00 in February 2024 and Rs 1.50 in January 2025. Even after the brief reduction at the start of 2026, the continued upward revisions have pushed CNG prices to current record levels.
The latest increase is expected to affect auto-rickshaw drivers, CNG cab operators and daily commuters the most. With operational fuel costs continuing to rise, transport expenses are likely to increase further, which may eventually result in higher fares for passengers.
