Students studying in municipal schools under the Nagar Prathmik Shikshan Samiti, Ahmedabad, will soon receive international-level music training following a new partnership with Yamaha Music India Private Limited, Japan.
An MoU was signed between Yamaha Music India and the Ahmedabad Municipal School Board to launch a two-year pilot project from 2026-27 to 2027-28. Under the initiative, 1,692 Class 5 students from 24 municipal schools will receive special music training.
As part of the first phase, 48 teachers from the selected schools will undergo special training in July 2026 by experts from Yamaha Music India.
After the training, each participating student will receive a recorder and a set of music books free of cost, while every school will be provided with one keyboard. A dedicated weekly music period will also be included in the timetable to help students develop musical skills.
Officials said the project aims to give municipal school students international-level exposure in music and help them explore career opportunities based on their interests and talents. After the two-year pilot phase, the programme will be reviewed for possible expansion to other schools.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Yamaha Music India officials, including Managing Director Kennei Sakai, Sales Unit Head Ryoji Maruyama and other representatives, along with Ahmedabad Municipal School Board Chairman Sujaybhai Mehta, Vice Chairman Vipulbhai Sevak and Administrative Officer L. D. Desai.
