Former Gujarat High Court judge Biren Vaishnav was sworn in as the new Lokayukta of Gujarat on Wednesday at a ceremony held in Gandhinagar.
According to a notification issued by the General Administration Department, Justice (retd) Vaishnav will serve a five-year term as Lokayukta.
Acharya Devvrat administered the oath of office to Justice Vaishnav at Lok Bhavan, according to an official release.
The ceremony was attended by Bhupendra Patel, Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, along with cabinet ministers and senior government officials.
Justice Vaishnav retired from the Gujarat High Court in June last year.
