The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has issued Orange and Yellow heat alerts for the next seven days under its Heat Action Plan, as temperatures in the city are expected to cross 45°C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast.In an official release, AMC said the heat forecasting and alert system has been developed in collaboration with Setaleo Labs.
The system uses Land Surface Temperature data along with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technology to analyse air temperatures at a highly detailed 30×30 metre pixel-level resolution.
Based on this analysis, authorities have identified and marked areas likely to experience the highest temperatures as heat hotspots across the city.
