The Ahmedabad Police Commissioner’s Office has taken action against two traffic police officers following a social media uproar over their conduct during a recent vehicle checking operation. Assistant Head Constable Surendrasinh Ramsinh and Rajubhai Kalubhai have been suspended pending a departmental investigation.
This decision comes after a post by Sandeep Manudhane went viral on April 15, criticizing the behavior of the officers involved in the vehicle check conducted on April 11. The operation, lasting from 8 am to 8 pm, was intended to enhance traffic enforcement across designated areas in Ahmedabad.
According to police officials, all personnel were instructed to adhere strictly to protocols which included wearing proper uniforms and using body-worn cameras. However, it seems those guidelines weren’t followed. The suspension orders indicated that the officers’ actions during the operation potentially damaged the reputation of the Ahmedabad Traffic Police.
The backlash from Manudhane’s post drew significant attention online, highlighting what he described as “suspicious and inappropriate” actions of police personnel at checkpoints. This raised concerns about law enforcement practices in Gujarat.
As investigations continue, the future for Ramsinh and Kalubhai hangs in balance while many residents watch closely for further developments.
