Akasa Air has announced the launch of its new entity, Akasa Air Leasing IFSC Private Limited (AALI), at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) in Gandhinagar, marking a major step in strengthening the airline’s aircraft financing and leasing operations.
According to the airline, the new office at GIFT City will support Akasa Air’s fleet expansion and long-term growth plans. The entity is expected to play a key role in the airline’s aircraft financing strategy by improving flexibility, reducing costs and providing better access to global capital markets.
The move is aligned with the Government of India’s vision of developing GIFT City into a global hub for aircraft leasing and financing. Once operational, AALI will provide aircraft leasing and financing solutions to Akasa Air and is expected to finance a majority of the airline’s aircraft over time while strengthening domestic leasing capabilities.
Priya Mehra, Chief of Governance and Strategic Acquisitions at Akasa Air, said the GIFT City entity would support the airline’s next phase of growth and help it access global capital more efficiently.
She added that the airline appreciates the ecosystem created by the Government of India and remains committed to contributing to the growth of GIFT City as an international aviation financing hub.
