A tragic incident was reported from Ahmedabad’s Narol area, where a Class 12 student died by suicide after being upset over her exam score.
The incident occurred at Umang Flats in Gangotri Nagar around 5 pm on May 4. According to reports, the student was distressed after the results were declared and allegedly took the extreme step at her residence.
Police have registered a case and initiated further investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) announced the Class 12 results for 2026 on Monday. The Science stream recorded a pass percentage of 84.33%, while the General stream achieved 92.71%.
Official data shows that over 5.01 lakh students appeared for the exams held between February 26 and mid-March 2026 across Science, General, and Vocational streams.
In the Science stream, 1,18,256 students appeared across 156 centres, with more than 93,000 clearing the exams. The pass percentage saw a marginal improvement of one percentage point compared to last year. Boys recorded 84.04%, while girls performed slightly better at 84.65%.
A total of 209 schools achieved 100% results. Kumbhariya in Banaskantha district emerged as the top-performing centre with 98.62%, while Dahod recorded the lowest at 42.98%.
At the district level, Morbi topped with 94.85%, while Dahod ranked lowest at 57.44%. Group-wise results stood at 90.79% for Group A, 79.87% for Group B, and 64.44% for the AB Group.
