A crane operator lost his life and another worker was seriously injured after a goods crane collapsed at an under-construction residential project by Safal builders on ISKCON-Ambli Road in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
The incident occurred around 10:30 am at the Mondeal-2 project, located opposite the DoubleTree by Hilton Ahmedabad, where painting and finishing work was in progress.
Police said the crane wire snapped while materials were being lifted to the fourth floor, causing the crane to fall from the fifth floor.
The operator, Avinash Brahmabhatt, died on the spot due to severe head injuries, while another worker, Ramanbhai, was critically injured and taken to a nearby hospital.
Satellite Police have registered a case of accidental death and begun an investigation.
Following the incident, the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) cancelled the construction permit for the site, issued a notice seeking an explanation, and ordered all work to be stopped.
