The Regional Transport Office (RTO) fined 27 vehicle owners for illegal parking on a bridge in GIFT City during a late-evening enforcement drive, following complaints about traffic congestion and safety concerns.
The drive, conducted on Wednesday evening, targeted both two-wheelers and four-wheelers parked along the bridge. Officials said a total fine of ₹18,000 was collected through no-parking challans.
Authorities noted that the bridge has been seeing frequent late-night gatherings, with vehicles parked on both sides, causing traffic jams and increasing the risk of accidents.
The action was taken after multiple complaints about disruption and unsafe conditions on the stretch.
During the drive, RTO teams also checked documents such as driving licences, insurance papers and Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates. Violators without valid documents may face additional penalties.
Officials said such drives will continue and warned of strict action against those violating parking rules or blocking traffic.
