In the wake of public outrage over the killing of a youth in Dhandhuka, Ahmedabad district authorities carried out a major crackdown on Tuesday, targeting the accused and other anti-social elements.Amid heavy police presence, bulldozers were deployed in the Khatki Wada locality to demolish illegal structures linked to the accused.
The operation began early in the morning, with more than four unauthorized houses brought down.Tensions had escalated in the area following the murder of Dharmesh Gamera last Saturday. In response, the administration moved swiftly, signaling a zero-tolerance stance against unlawful constructions and encroachments, including roadside stalls and shops along highways. To ensure law and order during the demolition drive, nearly 300 police personnel were deployed, along with over 50 officials from the Nagarpalika and the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department.
Meanwhile, the main accused, Rizwan and Sameer, were produced before a court under tight security. Given the sensitivity of the case, the court premises were heavily guarded during the hearing. While the police requested 10 days of remand, the court granted a two-day remand after considering arguments from both sides and the gravity of the case.
The accused will now undergo intensive questioning over the next two days, with investigators aiming to uncover further details and the possible conspiracy behind the murder.
