Ahmedabad’s crackdown on littering and infrastructure damage took a decisive turn this week. On April 21, 2026, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) targeted the Gota ward in the North-West Zone during an enforcement drive led by the Solid Waste Management Department.
Among the notable actions was the sealing of Jalaram Restaurant, located on Science City Road. Officials reported that the restaurant caused significant damage to a newly constructed footpath while attempting to repair its sewer line. As a result, AMC swiftly sealed off the premises and imposed a fine of ₹50,000 for violating municipal regulations.
In another case, Iwara Infrastructure Tower faced penalties after dumpers operating on SG Highway were found spilling debris onto public roads. The Sanitary Sub-Inspector imposed a hefty fine of ₹1 lakh. This action highlights AMC’s commitment to maintaining cleanliness and infrastructure integrity.
The officials emphasized that these enforcement drives will persist. They specifically aim at entities engaging in banned plastic use, inadequate waste disposal practices, or any form of littering on public roads. “We won’t tolerate such violations,” one official noted.
